Grumman F-14A Tomcat by sentinel28a Grumman F-14A Tomcat by sentinel28a
If you're going to Seattle, you can't miss the Museum of Flight.  It was the first place I went to!

This gorgeous example of a F-14 sits out front of the MOF, resplendent in VF-84 ("Jolly Rogers") colors, off of the USS Nimitz in the late 1970s/early 1980s, before the Navy went low-viz.  For my money, next to VF-111 Sundowners' sharkmouthed F-14s, this is THE F-14 color scheme.  One can easily see where Macross/Robotech got the inspiration for the VF-1 Valkyries of Skull Squadron!

Incidentally, I got to see the Nimitz heading into Bremerton on my way into Seattle, but didn't have time to get to my camera...

Pretty much.  Whoever did the Valkyrie designs must've had a thing for Jolly Roger Tomcats.  Not that I blame him!
