Description
Please note this is NOT by me. It's by the very esteemed artist of Gold Digger, Fred Perry. (I only wish I was this good!)
Almost three years ago, Fred Perry did a commission for me of my favorite home-grown character, my vampire/werewolf hybrid Allegra. Since the commission at the time was for two characters, I asked him to do Sister Shannon Masters of Warrior Nun Areala--I thought the dichotomy of darkness and light would make a good drawing.
Three months later, I'm recovering from surgery and feeling pretty down...and this comes in the mail. It instantly cheered me up to see my character done by my favorite comic artist. Interestingly, I had asked for Allegra to be carrying butterfly swords--only to realize that Fred's butterfly swords were much larger than the way I draw them, because his are accurate! (Mine are too thin.) I also pretty much left it up to him on how to pose the characters and draw Shannon. He used a combination of my ideas and Ben Dunn's somewhat, um, drafty habit design. (This may be the only time that Fred has ever drawn Shannon/Areala. If so, I'm doubly honored.)
I like the characters' expression. Shannon looks rather concerned that she's standing next to a vampire who may or may not be thinking of leaping off the roof, because that's what half-crazy vampires do.
It's a great drawing and holds a special place on my wall. After seeing that other fans of Fred have posted their commissions, I decided to share this here. Again, not my work: this is a professional.
